Intuitive cooking in Andalusia!

Come and learn to cook delicious, healthy and creative food in a beautiful patio in Vejer, one of the most beautiful white villages in Spain.

CULINARY HOLIDAY 6 - 13 APRIL 2025

The programme

Throughout the holiday, Katrien will serve breakfast every day. After breakfast, we will dive into the kitchen on Monday to Friday from 10:00 – 13:00 for a culinary workshop. After preparing, we will taste our own creations. The afternoons are free. On Thursdays, the daily programme is different; after breakfast we visit a local bodega where Katrien, in the vineyard, provides a delicious picnic. That day, the cooking workshop shifts to the evening.

Katrien will prepare a creative dinner for you each evening. On Wednesday evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening you are free so you also have the chance to enjoy some local restaurants. We will give you tips!

How can we make the most of our senses? Where do we get our inspiration from? Does the way we cook say something about ourselves? What are the culinary traps we can fall into? These are just some of the issue the workshop will be dealing with.

Monday - What exactly is Intuitive Cooking?

We start with an overview of different cooking techniques and provide a series of useful ‘tips & tricks’. We’ll look at the basic ingredients from different cuisines and discover together where and how to use them. In short, everything you need to restore your cooking confidence!

Tuesday - We play with texture, colour, shape and temperature.

How do we get that interesting contrast we’re looking for and how can we enhance flavours? And what about all the million different ways of preparing one single ingredient? Fear not, for those who want to keep it simple, we’ll also show you how can quickly and easily prepare something tasty!

Wednesday - How to bring balance to your dish.

No doubt that in this this relaxing atmosphere you’ll become much more aware of your senses and taste. We’ll play with classic flavour combinations, but we’ll also try to create interesting new ones. Fresh and dried herbs, sauces and pastes will play an important role in this! Is something too sweet, sour or too salty? We can fix it!

Thursday - Healthier eating.

This workshop will take place in the evening. Want to use less fish or meat in your dishes? Or want to do more vegetarian and vegan cooking, but you don’t always know how? Together we’ll experiment! We’ll also show you how to make the most of an ingredient (zero-waste), how you can cook with leftovers and to store ingredients in the most optimal way.

Friday - ‘Eat with your eyes’.

Our last day is all about the finishing touches. How can you make your dishes look as attractive as possible? We’ll give you plenty of ticks, play with flowers and leaves, as well as paying attention to the table setting, using natural and recycled materials. Together, we’ll create a magical atmosphere where all our senses are engaged. ‘Atmosphere is everything darling!’

There’ll be plenty of spare time to enjoy the Patio’s facilities. Give yourself a moment to relax in our Finnish sauna. Or enjoy a glass of wine together at the fire table. Or, if you want to cool off in our plunge pool, go ahead!

Stay:

You’ll be staying in Patio de la Luz. Rooms for two people.
We offer a maximum of 2 rooms for single use (with double bed). So book quickly if you want one!

Price:

  • 2-person bedroom with en-suite bathroom: € 1.430,-
  • Single-use room with en-suite bathroom: € 1.855,-

Included in the price:

  • 5x ‘Intuitive cooking in Andalusia’ workshops
  • A copy of Katrien Claus’s cookbook Intuitive Cooking
  • 2 glasses of wine per person during meals
  • Coffee and tea on the patio
  • 5x dinner
  • 7x breakfast
  • 7x overnights
  • Use of the sauna and plunge pool

Not included in the price:

  • Flight tickets to and from Seville or Malaga
  • Transfers / car rental from airport to Patio de la Luz
  • Drinks outside meals (honesty-bar)
  • 2x dinner (Wednesday and Saturday)
  • 1x lunch (Saturday)
  • This Wednesday and Saturday are free to explore one of the many restaurants in Vejer de la Frontera. This can be done alone, but of course also together.

We advise you to come by car, either hiring your own or sharing with others.

Our principle is first come, first served. So, if you want more privacy, book a private room early!

Sylvia and Niël

Hola, we are Sylvia and Niël – a dynamic duo with a passion for adventure and hospitality!

Until 2020, we lived in the Netherlands, where Niël followed his creative soul as an artist and Sylvia explored the world as a flight attendant. But our lives took an enchanting turn when we fell in love with the picturesque white village of Vejer de la Frontera.

And so began our Andalusian adventure. With our shared love of art and warm hospitality, we knew we could create something special in this breathtaking part of Spain.

Come and live our dream in charming Vejer de la Frontera. We can’t wait to welcome you to our lovingly created home.

Prices/Bookings:

As our workshop holidays have limited availability, early booking is strongly recommended!

To finalize your booking, a 50% deposit must be paid in advance. Payments can be made via bank transfer. After you have submitted your booking request, we will send you more information about payment.

Closing date for registration: March 1, 2025

We will let you know on this date whether the cooking workshop holiday will go ahead. If it does, and there are still places available, you can of course still book after this date. We need a minimum of 6 people for the cooking workshop. If there are too few registrations, the workshop will be cancelled ,but you can still use the room. We can always offer you an alternative programme. Or, if you decide not to come, we will refund the amount you paid to your account.

Important: If you want to book a flight and car before the closing date, we recommend that you take out cancellation insurance as it is impossible to say in advance whether we will have the minimum number of participants and whether the workshop week will definitely take place. Check whether this falls under the cancellation conditions of y our insurance.

General workshop cancellation policy:

Cancellations made before the above workshop holiday closing dates will be fully refunded. Cancellations made after the closing dates will not be refunded, unless you can find someone to take your place and they pay in full: then you will be fully refunded.

Liability Statement:

Upon arrival, you will be required to sign a waiver of liability for recreational activities.
